The Most Evil People in the Bible: Unveiling Their Dark Deeds
Do you want to know the most sinister characters in the Bible? So, we will be telling you the stories of four people who have crossed all the lines and betrayed every trust. Here, we bring to you their ill deeds and how they altered the course of history for a nation.
Judas Iscariot
The top of our list is Judas Iscariot, one of the hand-picked 12 trusted by Jesus Himself. Judas had a dark side and he betrayed Jesus despite being close to him. The soldiers followed Judas into the Garden of Gethsemane where after praying, Jesus was arrested at night. It was this betrayal that finalized the fate of Jesus, and He was handed over to be crucified. One of the most well-known traitors in history is Judas, and his actions are so wicked that they placed him among the evilest people in the Bible. It is a name that has often come to define treason.
Jezebel
Jezebel was the next, if you are familiar with her in the Bible she is the wife of King Ahab of Israel. Jezebel was queen, but she was also an infamous leader who established idolatry in Israel, leading the people of Israel away from God. She killed the Prophets of God and embarked on a reign of terror which saw many who resisted her executed. But her evil was not without consequence. The prophet Elijah opposed her, and Jezebel was eventually killed, fulfilling the prophecy that she would be eaten by dogs. Jezebel has gone down in history as one of the most wicked and treacherous women of all time.
King Herod
King Herod, also a paranoid and evil ruler, feared the Christ. His fear of losing power led him to commit terrible atrocities, the worst of them all being the Massacre of the Innocents. Herod commanded that all baby boys in Bethlehem be killed, thinking he would thus destroy the infant Jesus. Herod absolutely terrorized the Jews, as he had a reputation for being needlessly brutal and merciless with absolute power over his subjects. He was also partially responsible for setting up John the Baptist’s beheading. Herod is one of the worst villains in all of scripture.
Pharaoh
Pharaoh, the monarch of Egypt in Moses’ time, personally saw the power of God in the ten plagues, yet his heart remained hard. He refused to allow the Israelites to be free from slavery, causing them great suffering. As a consequence of his stubbornness, Egypt faced its catastrophic climax: the death of the firstborn. Even after losing his own son, he pursued the Israelites, only to meet his end at the Red Sea. His defiance against God brought ruin to his kingdom and misery to his subjects.
